古时候邯郸城里有位年轻人叫纪昌，看到城里的一位射箭能手飞卫有高超的箭术以后，就拜飞卫学习射箭，也想成为一名神箭手。飞卫收下纪昌作徒弟后，让徒弟先练习不眨眼睛的功夫，于是纪昌为了学会射箭，回到家里，仰面躺在他妻子的织布机下面，两眼一眨不眨地直盯着他妻子织布时不停地踩动着的踏脚板。天天如此，月月如此，这样坚持练了两年，从不间断，即使锥子的尖端刺到了眼眶边，他的双眼也一眨不眨。纪昌于是去汇报飞卫，飞卫这时候又要求纪昌要继续练习眼力，要练到看小的东西像看到大的一样，看隐约模糊的东西像明显的东西一样。一心想成为神箭手的纪昌谨遵师命。他向街头的乞丐卖了一只虱子，借妻子的头发将虱子拴好挂在窗前。纪昌看着，看着，目不转睛地看着。10天不到，那虱子似乎渐渐地变大了。纪昌仍然坚持不懈地刻苦练习。他继续看着，看着，目不转睛地看着。三年过去了，眼中看着那个系在头发丝下端的小虱子又渐渐地变大了，大得仿佛像车轮一样大小了。纪昌再看其他的东西，简直全都变大了，大得竟像是巨大的山丘了。于是，纪昌马上找来目不转睛地瞄准那仿佛车轮大小的虱子，将箭射过去，箭头恰好从虱子的中心穿过，而悬挂虱子的头发丝却没有被射断。

我想这就是在敛神，练神，更是在炼神。将所有的注意力关注于一点，全神贯注，心无旁骛，一气贯之，功力现之。我们日常操拳演武也好、写字作画也罢，也是这样，无不是以练神为上，当神意和合于一点，再加上不懈的努力、顽强的意志，也必将取得文或武上的进步甚至飞跃。纪昌在这一点上为我们做了生动的榜样。丹经武学的同修在练习小练形、玉环桩的时候要想取得“感而遂通”后的质的飞跃，我想很大程度上也得如此学会“善用其心”。

纪昌把射穿虱子的功夫练成后，又去汇报飞卫，飞卫这次说行了，于是让其学连射、速射，直到有一天无法再教纪昌。一心想成为天下第一射手的纪昌，这时候却被名誉思想冲昏了头脑，竟想射杀师父飞卫。飞卫最终还是谅解了徒弟，并把纪昌指到峨眉山甘蝇老师父那里去学箭。

当人们看到九年后下山的纪昌无不惊叹，因为这时候他们所看到的纪昌已经曾经不再精悍好胜，而是一副温和慈善、与世无争的神色。当飞卫见到此时的纪昌，也敬畏地跪拜在地，赞叹道：“这才是真正的天下第一的射手啊!”尽管如此，此时的纪昌却毫无在众人面前漏一手的意思，他是那么淡定，谦和。而人们关于他的传说却从哪个时候开始渐渐多起来。有行窃的小偷爬到纪昌家的围墙上看到了屋里飞来的一道寒光将其惊吓落地。还有人看到夜晚的天空中纪昌与后羿、养由基在一起射箭比武。晚年的纪昌甚至已经忘掉了当年使用的弓箭，他与世无争，生活恬淡。身居茅棚却体悟大道，他说：“至为为不为，至言为不言，至射为不射，不射之射！”他如烟似霞地离开了人世。自那以后，邯郸城内的武士们都耻于张弓舞剑。
